Walter Schreifels Band Shows This Week
Posted on 10th August 2009

If you want to get kicked in the nuts by some rock this week, I am going to be playing guitar as part of the Walter Schreifels Band at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey this Tuesday, August 11 and on Friday, August 14 at Mojo 13 in Wilmington, Delaware. As hinted at in the name, the Walter Schreifels Band is led by my friend the great Walter Schreifels (Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Quicksand, Rival Schools, Walking Concert) on guitar and lead vocals and also includes the great Arthur Smilios (Gorilla Biscuits, CIV), and the great Andy Action (2 Skinnee J’s, Apes and Androids, Speedball Baby, Dangerous) in addition to me, who I already told you about. We will be playing hits from Walter’s entire career as well as hits from his forthcoming solo debut “Open Letter to the Scene.” If I weren’t in the band, I would totally go to this show and stand right up front with my shirt off and stuff. Since I’m in the band though, I’ll just show up and bring the rock heat like a motherf@#ker in accordance with the prophecy. Hope to see you there.

Valley Lodge at the Bell House with Harvey Danger This Saturday
Posted on 5th August 2009

Attention People of New York City:

This is your man Dave Hill writing to let you know that this Saturday, August 8, my rock band Valley Lodge will be breaking out the hot rock action at the Bell House in Brooklyn as we open up for Harvey Danger, the popular Seattle-based rock band whom you may know from their hit song “Flagpole Sitta,” as they play their last ever New York show on their farewell show. And while they are packing it in in style, we will be playing our first New York show since dominating the Far East, where we are considered geniuses, on our Japanese tour and also being the house band for incredible Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at Bonnaroo, which takes place in Tennessee. I guess what I am trying to say is that this will be our first stateside show that does not involve hand puppets in a very long while. I will miss the hand puppets and also the Japanese fans, but I will dry my tears by just, you know, rocking out like a motherf@#ker or something. You don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine, just fine! And as if all of that is not enough, the rock band Jukebox the Ghost will also be rocking as part of the show. If you like going to some place and hearing a bunch of rock music with other people who are into that sort of thing, I honestly can’t recommend this show enough as it totally has all that stuff. After the show, we can hang out at the bar and talk about our interests as well as things that have been going on in the news. You seem nice. You can get tickets to the show right here, you know, if you want. And if you want to make sure my band doesn’t suck or anything, feel free to get your ass handed to you by checking out some of our rock jamz right here.

Love,
Dave Hill

Me Interviewing Street Sweeper Social Club on Cinemax
Posted on 5th August 2009

Recently, I sat down with Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave and Boots Riley from the Coup to discuss their popular new rock band Street Sweeper Social Club for the popular premium cable television network Cinemax, a channel that sometimes shows boobs. A fun bonus fact about this interview is that about halfway through taping it, the popular actor Tim Robbins walked in and sat down and watched from the wings as he waited for his friend Tom Morello to finish. After the interview, I said to Tim “Hi, I’m Dave.” Then he said, “Hi, I’m Tim.” Then we both went back to whatever we were doing. It was pretty great for both of us. This is just one of the many colorful anecdotes I will be sharing in my forthcoming autobiography “Cheers, Tears, and Gunplay: My Life in Show Business.” Watch out for it.
