Here is my friend Gian playing a song he whipped up on the piano. Check it out- it’s a nice way to bring it down on a Sunday night (which is when I’m typing this).
And here is something else you will be really glad to watch- Mark Gormley. I’m speechless.

Attention People of New York City:
Hello. This is your man Dave Hill writing to let you know that this Wednesday, February 11 at 8pm I will be presenting to you one seriously great night of entertainment at the popular Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre called “Dave Hill’s Madea Goes to Jail™”, the presentation of which is presented to you by CBS/NYC (which is to say the New York office of the popular CBS television network, the channel that “Guiding Light” is on). As you are probably already guessing, this show is going to be really, really incredible. Not only will I be coming out on stage and doing many of the things that have afforded me the lifestyle I am living like a mothef@%ker today, but I will also be joined by some of my favorite comedy folks in all of North America, including pretty young things like Laura Krafft, Sandra Bauleo, and Joe Mande as well as a fourth comedian of national importance whose name will be revealed any minute now. As if all of that is not enough, you will also be treated to the musical stylings of the one and only Phil Costello from Children of the Unicorn, Satanicide, Tragedy, Valley Lodge, and like ten other bands besides those. I might sit in with him. Still waiting on clearance from the fire marshal. Anyway, I really hope you can make it. This show has pretty much everything and it’s only five bucks. You can’t even get a sandwich for that little these days and this show is like ten sandwiches for your brain and also maybe a beverage, which is also for your brain. Also, I am going to hold a mirror up to society’s face at some point or another during the show with some insights. You should totally come. You can get tickets right here.
Your man,
Dave Hill
P.S.
For a couple more days now, you can get a free download of my appearance on the popular public radio program “This American Life” last weekend right here. I hope you enjoy it a whole bunch and then maybe tell my parents.

Serge Gainsbourg gave the world some great music, but to me his legend was really cemented when he told Whitney Houston he wanted to bang her live on French television. That’s pre-Bobby Brown, pre-crack Whitney too- fully bangable. Can’t say I blame him for stepping up to the plate.

My buddy Nick Kroll was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night and kicked America in the nuts with his awesomeness. Watch it now and and laugh and clap in the privacy of your own home.
In other news, this past Monday I performed in a basement and here is a picture of that.

Here is a an interesting news item on one of my favorite subjects, Norwegian Black Metal. This one is about Mayhem and what I will describe as their nutty past. These guys aren’t messing around (and being the King of Black Metal and all, I would know). Talk about metal- these guys are, like, really metal. And once you’re done reading that, you should read this for even more fun.

According to Variety (you know, that magazine that named me one of their “10 Comics to Watch” in 2007), there is going to be a remake of the incredible movie “Slap Shot,” the popular ice hockey-themed film that starred Paul Newman in his prime. I don’t care what Defamer says, I think a remake of “Slap Shot” is a good idea. And you heard it here first- I want in. Aside from being, you know, a comedy-type person, I am also 1/4 Canadian and played NCAA ice hockey (both 100% true facts). I even still play ice hockey now. What? Do you think that photo on the splash page of my website is Photoshopped? No, that shit is real.
I wasn’t in show business back when they made the popular “Mighty Ducks” films, so I really think this “Slap Shot” remake is God’s way of saying “The world needs a hockey movie with Dave Hill in it.” I mean, seriously, what else could this possibly mean? Anyway, would someone out there let me know when to show up on set? I own all my own equipment. I’ll just need the jersey probably, but I could probably get one on eBay I imagine. I am really excited about all this. Thanks for listening. You seem nice.

A koala bath! I can’t handle it. “G’day, mate!” That’s what I would be saying the whole time.

Here is Pere Ubu playing “Oh Catherine” on Letterman back in 1989. I have been obsessed with this song lately and this version is pretty great. I’ve seen lead singer David Thomas perform a bunch of times over the years with Pere Ubu, Rocket from the Tombs, and his Two Pale Boys and the guy rules every time. Sharp dresser too, something I know from.

My friend Jake has several tattoos, most of which are pretty awesome, one or two which I think he might one day kinda, sorta, maybe regret a little bit (but maybe not). His latest tattoo though (above), I am fully in support of and it’s not even done yet. It’s a drawing of some sort of futuristic Centaur-like version of himself flashing metal horns, a wad of cash, and just a lot of sass in general. I am thinking of getting this exact same tattoo put onto my back right now and I don’t even have any tattoos. I am excited to see what this looks like all colored in and stuff. Kudos, Jake. You have outdone yourself.
In other news, today we (I think/hope) finished mixing the new album by my hot rock band Valley Lodge. It sounds pretty rocking if you ask me. Now all we have to do is get it mastered and manufactured and track down those five people who might want to own it or something. Anyway, in celebration of the new album kinda, sorta being done, I am posting this free download of our hit song “If It Takes All Night” here for your listening/free download pleasure. I hope you enjoy it so much. It pretty much has everything.

Remember how I totally did that Smiths/Speed dating night called “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now” at the Black Rabbit bar in Greenpoint last week? Well, I am totally doing it again next Thursday, February 12. You should totally come. The last one was completely nuts with all sorts of people making out and generally having a really nice time. I have had a lot of incredible ideas in my time, but I have to say this one might be, well, okay not the best, but still seriously good. Anyway, you should really come next week whether you want to speed date or just hang out and listen to the Smiths and Morrissey while you watch people try to get busy and/or just chat a bit. It is pretty much the greatest thing that has ever happened. More info here.
