My First Band Sons of Elvis on the Jon Stewart Show
Posted on 26th November 2012

Way back in the ’90s, before I was a world-famous entertainer of the highest order, I was just a regular rock god from Cleveland playing in my first band Sons of Elvis. We made one album for Priority Records before eventually falling prey to processed foods and house paint fumes and eventually breaking up like so many young bands do. Before that happened, though, we were guests on Jon Stewart’s short-lived but awesome Jon Stewart Show along with Sam Elliott, the cast of Stomp! and one other guest whose name time has wrestled from me but whom I remember as being super hot. What I remember most from that day is all the free candy and sandwiches and also barging into Jon Stewart’s dressing room and telling him a really great story about how I had met him once before in a bar for a second, which he listened to graciously, laughing knowingly at all the right parts. You can watch and hear us play the hits above. That’s me on bass. I don’t defend the hair or clothes, though I still have the velvet pants and occasionally dig them out and think “Hmmm, maybe.”

Still street,
Dave Hill
